The pupils, parents and staff at Saint Christina’s School were most proud to begin the academic year of 2011-12 with the installation of a new, perfect playground for the children to enjoy!
This latest development project was the culmination of12months of hard work of planning and support that has been achieved by our dedicated parents and generous donors.
Children at Saint Christina’s adore their new playground which has seen the installation of new apparatus in the infant and junior playgrounds and a widening of the space in the junior playground to incorporate more equipment that the children wished to play with most. Pupils were closely consulted in the process and school councillors fielded suggestions from their respective class groups. Apparatus the children wished to have in their new playground that have been installed in the final design include swings, a rocking bridge, an adventure house, tunnels, slides, an outdoor classroom pergola with whiteboard and gymnastics bars of varying heights.
The new playground has been installed one year ahead of schedule due to the enormous support garnered by our hard working Parents’ Link group and the kind support of those who donated to the playground appeal. Additionally, pupils also fundraised through class cake sales, an Easter raffle and a pyjama party and movie night to acquire items on their wish list.
It is wonderful to see the realisation of our new playground in time for the Olympics and it shall support many of the Olympic and Paralympic ideals of friendship, respect, striving for excellence, equality, courage, determination and inspiration. The children at Saint Christina’s look forward to enjoying their playground for many years to come.
