Children’s Book Week at Saint Christina’s got off to a great start with a Key Stage Two assembly by renowned children’s author, Lauren St. John.
The children were fascinated by her childhood stories of growing up in Africa with a host of amazing friends and pets- including her very own giraffe! Lauren followed this assembly with an enjoyable writing workshop with the Year Five and Year Six pupils.
Tuesday was another fun-filled day, this time for children in Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. Children’s author and illustrator Polly Dunbar visited each classroom and offered her insights into the writing process using pictures as starting points.
Saint Christina’s was transformed into a giant bedroom on Wednesday 6th October when everyone arrived in their pyjamas! Mr. Reilly and Year 5 shared some of their favourite stories with the whole school in a special bedtime assembly.
Both of our special guest authors signed copies of their books for the pupils and these copies were available for purchase during the two book fairs hosted by ‘Tales on Moon Lane’ Children’s bookstore.
Our special thanks go to our Volunteer Parent Librarian, Mrs. Sarah Maude, who provided invaluable support throughout the week.
All in all it was another thoroughly enjoyable Book Week at Saint Christina’s School!
