Happy Feast Day Handmaid Sisters
Today is the Feast Day of St Raphaela Maria Porras, our school patron. She was born in Pedro Abad, Spain on 1st March 1850. She came from a prosperous family but grew up with a strong religious faith from an early age. Her family instilled in her strong values, including a love of the poor; and they exemplified this by regularly feeding the poor from the basement of their house. She decided she wanted to devote her whole life to God and, in time, she founded the order of The Handmaids of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Handmaid Schools were opened first of all in Spain and then in other parts of the world. We are so lucky to be one of those special schools.
