St. Christina’s School has a Spanish programme for Reception to Year 6. In Reception to Year 2 a naturalistic method is used which gently introduces the children to everyday language as well as word recognition. By Years 1 and 2 they are familiar with word recognition. In Years 3 to 6 a more structured approach is adopted, as children learn beginning skills in reading and writing Spanish as well as an awareness of grammar.

Throughout the programme the emphasis is on oral language and building an appreciation for another language and culture. Songs, ICT, games and communicative activities are the main focus of the Spanish curriculum at St. Christina’s School.
