On Tuesday, Years 1,2,4,5 and 6 descended en-masse to Lords Cricket Ground, the home of cricket. We were there to support the Street Child Cricket World Cup. This wonderful initiative brings extremely disadvantaged young people together from all over the world through special sporting events. The children were able to cheer on teams from: Bangladesh, the Democratic Republic of Congo, England, India North, India South, Mauritius, Nepal, Tanzania, the West Indies and Zimbabwe. It was a super day out at Lords with some entertaining games on offer – the final match was between England and India South, with the overall winners being India South. It was great to see how much the day meant to the teams taking part.
It was a lovely and enjoyable occasion for the majority of the school to be all together on a joint trip – the children looked very smart in their uniforms as we walked through St John’s Wood! Most importantly though, it helped the Saint Christina’s community appreciate how lucky we are and to remember that everyone deserves a voice, to be recognised and given the chance to overcome adversity.
