The girls in KS2 have loved International Week this week!
Year 3 have been learning all about Italy. They started off the week by locating Italy on the globe and different maps at various scales, and writing a report full of interesting facts using the expertise from Mrs Franz. They then looked at the origins of pizza before the most exciting part of the week…the girls got to make their own pizzas in class!
To top off a fantastic International Week the girls in Years 4, 5 and 6 took part in the annual United Kingdom Linguistics Olympiad. This year the problems were based on solving language puzzles in Dutch, Babylonian, Norwegian and Swedish. About half of the girls in Year 6 chose to try the problems for the KS3 competition which were based upon Ligori (a dialect of Italian) and Mongo (a dialect found in the Congo). We look forward to seeing how they fair!
On Friday all of the children dressed in their own traditional clothing/colours from their country. Some classes even bought some food in from their country to share with the rest of the class. A really fun week was had by all.
