Just before the half term break, Nursery had a wonderful time exploring Pumpkins!
We first compared the different shapes and sizes of our pumpkins and were delighted to see such variety. We then got onto designing, painting and decorating them, finishing them off by painting on the pumpkins’ faces. Outside, we have been practicing our hand-eye coordination and building up our strength by hammering in golf tees and nails into a GIANT pumpkin using mallets. It was difficult at first but we were so absorbed that we became proficient at it quickly. At the end of the week we decided to cut it open to see what was inside. After lots of discussion around this including predictions that "a giant bicycle' or 'princess' would be inside we were delighted to see that it was filled with seeds. We used tweezers and spoons to scoop out the middle, enjoying getting a bit messy. Our pumpkin carcass is now being well used in our mud kitchen and the seeds are being dried out ready to plant in our playground in the spring!
