Drama

All the children at Saint Christina’s enjoy a range of dramatic opportunities. This can happen during lessons, assemblies, workshops or on stage for one of our many Key Stage or class productions. This gives the children the chance to express themselves with confidence and encourages them to think and act creatively. It also helps to develop critical thinking and problem solving skills that can then be applied across all areas of learning. Drama develops emotional intelligence and helps children to understand the world around them.

Participating in one of our highly ambitious, professional and successful School productions encourages pupils to cooperate and work as part of a team. For those not wishing to take an acting or singing role, there are opportunities to help with lighting, costumes and scenery.

Productions have included Singin’ in the Rain, Mary Poppins, Annie, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Lion King and, more recently, The Little Mermaid.

LAMDA: Specialist Speech and Drama lessons
Speech and Drama lessons are available from Year 3 taught by our specialist acting tutor. These lessons, which are charged for separately, allow children to develop their dramatic and presentation skills in more detail, leading to LAMDA exams where appropriate. Children also have the opportunity to perform work from their Speech and Drama lessons to their parents in special assemblies.
