Science and STEM
Science and STEM learning at our school is all about curiosity, creativity and hands-on exploration. From investigating how our bodies work to exploring habitats, weather, light, forces and materials, our children experience a rich variety of exciting and meaningful topics throughout their time with us. Whether they’re growing plants in the garden, hunting for minibeasts on Primrose Hill, or testing the strength of different materials, every unit helps them understand the world around them.
We regularly enhance our science learning with virtual reality workshops, where children have explored outer space, the human body, and ways we can look after our planet. These immersive experiences help bring science to life in unforgettable ways.
Our passion for STEM extends beyond the classroom. We run three popular after-school STEM clubs for EYFS, KS1 and KS2, where children have the chance to engage in exciting experiments and use real-world equipment, including a 3D printer. Highlights include dissecting an eyeball in Year 6, designing and racing aerodynamic cars in the Formula 1 in Schools challenge, and taking part in team presentations to industry experts. Last year, our F1 challenge was combined with a STEM residential to Bristol, where children explored the Bristol Aerospace Museum, boarded the iconic Concorde, and visited the interactive science centre ‘We The Curious’.
From digging into soils and skeletons to solving science-themed mysteries in our light and electricity units, science at our school inspires a love of discovery and prepares children to think like future scientists and engineers.
