Year 2 Trip to the Young V&A

On Tuesday, Year 2 had a brilliant trip to the Young V&A Museum in Bethnal Green. The children took part in a hands-on design and technology workshop where they were challenged to think like architects.

During the session, the children role-played as architects and “clients,” designing a home for an animal by thinking carefully about its needs, such as shelter, food and play. They worked in teams to share ideas, build models using a range of materials and large foam blocks, and test their designs. The workshop supported teamwork, creativity and problem-solving, while introducing the children to the design–make–evaluate process.

We also explored different areas of the museum, giving the children time to look closely at objects, spaces and ideas linked to play and design. The children were a real credit to the school throughout the day.
